Bridgepoint Education Holds Bowl-A-Thon Fundraiser to Support Junior Achievement

Nearly 200 employees from Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE:BPI) and its academic institution, Ashford University, teamed up and hit the bowling lanes to raise $7,100 for Junior Achievement of San Diego and Imperial Counties.

“The bowl-a-thon was not only a fun event that encouraged teambuilding among our employees but, more importantly, it also raised money for a great organization that supports programs for San Diego students,” said Jennifer Love Bruce, associate vice president of Community Relations at Bridgepoint Education. “The focus of Junior Achievement aligns with Bridgepoint’s focus on education and youth in its philanthropic efforts.”

The disco-themed event, dubbed “Bowl Train,” took place Thursday, March 29, at San Diego’s Mira Mesa Lanes. A total of 180 bowlers on 41 teams participated, and each bowler was required to raise a minimum of $25 for Junior Achievement.

Bridgepoint’s event was part of a larger bowl-a-thon effort for Junior Achievement. This year marked Junior Achievement’s 27th year holding the bowl-a-thon, the organization’s largest annual fundraiser in San Diego and Imperial Counties. All proceeds, which are expected to exceed $100,000 this year, will ensure that more than 40,000 school children will receive Junior Achievement’s programs.

Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. It organizes in-school programs where business leaders are invited to speak directly to children in classrooms. Junior Achievement of San Diego and Imperial Counties also maintains the BizTown facility where students run businesses and hold civic positions in a mock city. Junior Achievement’s goal is to prepare students for economic achievement and success throughout their lives.
