SAN DIEGO, July 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE:BPI) , a provider of postsecondary education services focused on providing higher access to higher education, has announced that Dr. Ernest Price, an academic administrator and educator with more than 25 years of managerial experience, has been appointed to the position of university provost at University of the Rockies. Dr. Price will serve as a member of the university's executive team, overseeing the academic affairs and faculty departments within the institution. In addition, he will foster academic research, promote scholarship and success, and encourage the creation of a diverse and inclusive environment for the university's faculty and students.

Prior to his joining University of the Rockies, Dr. Price was associate vice president for academic operations at University of Phoenix (UoP), where he was charged with setting policy and managing academic matters for the business. He held additional roles with UoP that included regional director of academic affairs for the company's eight-state Western and Mountain Regions, and director of academic affairs for UoP's San Diego campus. Dr. Price is a retired U.S. Marine Corps lieutenant colonel and recently worked as deputy director of business for the Marine Corps Community Services organization.
An avid supporter of his local community, Dr. Price has served on the Board of Directors for United Way of San Diego County, United Services Organization of San Diego, Non-Profit Solutions of San Diego and LEAD San Diego.
Dr. Price earned his Ph.D. in Education from Argosy University. He holds two master's degrees, one in Business and one in Public Administration, both from National University. His bachelor's degree in English is from the University of Pennsylvania.
